October Doings

Time for my October blog! I'm posting pictures representing life events of the past month. First of all, we went to New Hampshire the end of September for part of the Fairwood convention, plus visits to Jill and crew nearby. Got to see my parents too, woohoo! Then we spent several days in Maine visiting Dennis' parents and some of his siblings. We went to the huge L.L. Bean store in Freeport! Pretty cool, though we didn't actually buy much. I figured there wasn't much point in investing in "real" clothes then when I'd be in maternity clothes soon.

I was pretty wiped out when we came home. Some of the worst of my "morning" sickness hit me that week or two after our return. Believe me, I've tried all sorts of tricks for alleviating misery. Some of them work a little bit, some don't really. Sorry to give so little hope to future moms. :-( Maybe I'll be more successful with future kids. BUT on the eve of my 14 week point, I seemed to turn a corner. Some foods (or amounts) don't make tummy happy, but for the most part, I'm doing a lot better, which is marvelous!

AND I'm growing! I hit the 15 week mark on Friday and took a picture to show my blossoming belly. It's really kind of popped out the last few weeks and I'm wearing more maternity clothes than regular clothes. I'm excited! It's hard to be pregnant when you don't even look pregnant! November 20 is the big date for us to get an ultrasound and find out what we're having! So far, various ones have said they think we're having a girl. We shall see...

Speaking of girls, we adopted two of them! Kittens, that is. We were sort of talked into adopting one kitten from a cat rescue place, and then we got talked into adopting her sister, who was less likely to be adopted because of her blah coloring. Yup, I'm total mush when it comes to animals, and especially cats! Cheeky has been remarkably tolerant of the girls and they look up to him in awe. Except when he tries to be playful with them and they give him this sort of weird look, like, "Uh, forget it, Gramps, you look really idiotic!" Sugar and Ginger, as I finally named them, have a blast tearing around the house together and wrestling. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking to adopt TWO little wild Indians, but then they look so cute when they're sleepy and I say, "Aaaaw, the little Darlings!"

The weather has been blessedly cooler this last month and I think I like Georgia again! We've enjoyed a few fires in our fireplace and finally turned on the furnace. (No alliteration intended.)

Today is our 6 month anniversary!! I can't believe how time has flown, and yet it seems like we've been married for ages. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of our first email. Amazing all that has transpired in this past year! So many changes and so many blessings. God was so good to bring a wonderful man like Dennis into my life. And now we're going to have our own little bambino in 6 months! There is something so bonding for a couple to have a child. This is somebody you "made" together, who's a little bit of both of you combined, and whom only the two of you share "property rights" to. :-) I'm very glad we didn't put off any longer this extra dimension of joy to our relationship and the beginning of a God-ordained family!
